Submit Button on a form

I had a quick newbie question about a submit button. What is the html code for when i want a filled out form to be sent to my e-mail? I have looked on the net and i use their codes, but i cant use the POST part, so instead of posting or whatnot, i want all of the information filled out in the form sent to my email? Anyone know the code for that? Thanks!

It sounds like what you need to do is use the mail() function after formatting your POST variables. Does that make sense to you?

yeah, i got it. so instead of a url in the action, i put action="mailto:myemail@blah.com"

However, when i try and fill out the form, it brings me to my email and the email is blank with no attachments or anything. Its just a plain email and no information is on it. Anyone know what i am doing wrong?

[font=arial]Well, if you don't want to use PHP to process the form and send it via the mailto action; and you want the values of the form fields to be added to the default message, you could use JavaScript to get the form values and add them to the form's action. Do you need help with the JavaScript code?
Note: This will only work for the 87% or so of your users, who have JavaScript enabled. I would suggest using PHP to submit your form, and email you.[/font]

Ok, which way would you consider easiest? Using the Javascript or PHP? It seems to me that the PHP way might be easier, so what do i have to do to have it submit the form results? i use www.hostultra.com for my server so im not exactly sure what to use or how to make it submit. 🙁 Thanks

[font=arial]Apparently, the host you are using supports PHP no matter which plan you're using, so I'm assuming you have PHP enabled on your server. Something like the below code should suffice to send emails.[/font]

Sounds simple enough, so do i just create a whole new page with that PHP (mailer.php) stuff on it and change the red type into whatever i need to based on the names of my various textboxes, etc and it will just email it to me? Its somewhat a dumb question but then again i am dumb when it comes to this stuff, thank you very much for your help jona.

ok :p i believe that i have everything right so far, except after filling out the form, it takes me to a page and says that my email is not valid.

is the code for the email that you gave me and i used it because i also have a spot for email and it is named email. however, regardless of what address i put in it comes back saying its not valid.

for my form purposes, it does not really matter whether or not they give me a fake email address or a real one, so what should i do to just take out the email check or change it so that it doesnt come back every time as the email being wrong? thanks!

I'm completely brand new to php scripting and I been waiting to teach myself it...It seems that this has already given me problems cause i'm MAJOR confused on what to do..

That person who wrote the huge php script for use with the html document..What do I edit in that script, I know the red parts, but what exactly should I edit to make it send it to my email?.....And been having a problem when I hit "submit" on my form, it's bringing up a page not found even though it went to access mailer.php..

Ah i'm just major confused, little help please lol.

And is there a easier way then php? I heard you can via javascript..anyone have link to that please?

okay, come to find out, the website didnt accept php...lol

tried my other site......hit submit button on html page and it said this

Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /nf-errors/php-deny.asis.

means I cant use Php I guess...

tried again and got

[font=arial]Then apparently your host doesn't support PHP. On the first server, you might want to check to make sure you don't have any Apache Handlers set up to run PHP scripts. They should be automatic; and if they don't work still, try changing their permissions.[/font]
