[Resolved] Will my mailshot page screw up the server?

Just a quick question guys...

I have written a page for someone that allows them to generate a simple HTML email to send to all their customers.

After previewing and validating the user clicks send and the email addresses are pulled out of the database and a loop sends the email out over and over again to each of the customers.

It has occured to me that that could potentially be quite a lot of emails all going out one after the other and I don't want to crash the server or anything.

Is this gonna be a problem? If so are there any steps I can take? The site isn't hosted on some budget server or anything the guy does actually have a proper business package with his provider so I would assume they have taken steps to deal with bulk mail anyway.

depending on the amount of emails you are talking about, i would do like 50 at a time, do a sleep, do 50 more, sleep, 50, sleep, etc...

otherwise you could run into problems with your mail server taking a crap on you
