How do I make this into a link...?

Hi all,

I'm new to PHP but do have an understanding of it, I have just got this guestbook script and I need the 'email' and 'website' to be clickable links on the read page of the guestbook, I have tried for sevaral days and searched the net and I just can't figure it out.

Also need help with formatting the links so that they don't have the line underneathe them... I can do it in HTML but don;t understand how to in PHP

suppose

variable $email has the email address of current comment, while $website is the url

then use:

echo '<a href="mailto:'.$email.'">email</a>';

echo '<a href="'.$website.'">website</a>';

I have tried to to that but it didn;t work 🙁

this is the code in the PHP doc. for it to write to the .txt file where the data is stored.

$newRow = '<div class="text">' . ($message) .
' ---------- name: ' . strip_tags ($name) . ' email: ' . strip_tags ($email) . ' website: ' . strip_tags ($website) . ' location: ' . strip_tags ($location) . ' referred by: ' . ($referedby) . ' date: ' . date('d.m.Y') . ' @ ' . date('H:i') . ' ---------- </div>';

and I have change the $website to what you have sudgested before... but no joy

does $website hold something like

http://www.domain.com or is it
www.domain.com or
domain.com

you will have to have different <a href's> for each one, or go some regular expressions to correct everything to show http:..........

then you can put it into the href with no problem

to be honest I'm not too bothered, as long as the $website variable is clickable witin the page and exactly as the user has input it.

make the file name .html,

I think your mistaking what I'm saying 🙁

for the moment I'm gonna leave the CSS 'underling links' problem and just work on the URL problem.

here is part of the code...

now all that works and I get it 'output' on the page.

but I want to make the ($website) linkable on the page, so this is the code I have made with advice...

and this..

well, no you haven't given the <html>, not in the file you supplied anyway, but here's my version with only two minor changes. i can not see any reason for this not to work unless the user enters somethign like "asfasdfasgadgfgjagfDGADG" for their email 😉
