Installing phpwebsite

Hi,
I have just installed apache, php and mysql using the apachetriad2 installation set. Now I want to install phpwebsite.

The problem is that I cannot run the setup.php, or any other php file unless it is the source root dir "apache/htdocs/"

I have tried including the path to the phpwesite dir in the httpd.conf and php.ini files I but cannot seem to get php files to run anwhere other than "apache/htdocs/" - help...be gentle

Im not sure what your doing but anyway.

All files whether that html or php must go in the htdocs directory unless its different in the httpd.conf file.

I think the problem is that I can't run any php files in sub dirs of htdocs, e.g. "htdocs/MyProject/"

How can I make sure that php files will run in other dirs?

Hmm.. now this is something i havent heard of ever before.

Once you have set uo your httpd.conf file and made the directory htdocs as the webroot. Any Directories within the htdocs directory (Sub Folders) should parse any extension as long as its been configured within the httpd.conf file. That being PHP in your case.

Also i dont suggest using the all in one package like apachetriad2.
I used PHPTriad when i first started, and had some errors every now and again with things not working..

Although your justing starting out you may wanna configure your own webserver, there are plenty of tutorials out there.

I will take your advice, I was hoping to avoid the webserver config stuff as I will have my site hosted. Anyway I already have spent a fair amount of time in the Apache and PHP manuals trying to get phpwebsite setup so I may as well go all the way now 🙂
