Reading From A Text File

Well here's what I want to do: I need to print out a random word, from list, in a text file and I can't seem to figure out how to do it. So I'll have:

word1
word2
word3
word4
word5

in the text file and I need to print out a randomly selected word.
Please use your magical fourm powers to conjure me up a answer to my problem that's been puzzling me for ages (also please explain any uncommon functions because i'm a n00b 🙂).
