steps to find prob

I have a problem that is :

i have some person on left side and some on right lets suppose

                 $left             :             $right
                  23               :              46

now i want a solution that tells me how many steps are involved in this, and one step is said to be completed if i have following combination
Left : Right
6 : 3
3 : 6
5 : 4
4 : 5
so if i have 23 on my left and 46 on my right then total steps are 6
i need it's generalize solution in php that would calculate number steps if x are on left and y are on right

dude this makes no sense what so ever. Try explaining it alot more. Is it some maths problem. If so go look up some maths pages and use the alorithms in yah code.

it's nearly a mathematical prob, actually i m making a multi level marketing application i n which a person have to refer atleast 2 person , and those 2 person have to refer further 2 person and so on. on the basis of there reference they are paid some amount, according to following rule
they will paid amonut when they completed one or more then one steps(1 step completed when the person had refered 9 person according to following propotiionality

left : right
3 : 6
6 : 3
5 : 4
4 : 5

), lets suppose a person has refered 32 person in order to find how many steps he had completed i need a general solutiuon in php.

ok. I really suggest you do some reading up on calculus problems. I am sure their will be some mathematical solution to this. I havent done maths in yrs so dont really wana try solve this. Find some maths board and post their as well. Also do some research on maths sites about this. Seems like it is the sort of problem that would have a solution out their. Once u get an equation u can implement easily in PHP.
And also it sounds like a pyrimid scheme thing you are doing 🙂.
