Wordfilter preg_replace or str_replace ??

I don't know what to use 🙁

What do you guys think is the best ??

$input = preg_replace("/\b$correct\b/", asteriscos($correct), strtolower($input));

or

$input = str_replace($correct, asteriscos($correct), strtolower($input));

I don't need code just your opinion 🙂

BTW if you don't know why I'm asking this is because preg_replace will only replace the banned words and str_replace will replace password with p***word 😉

Well, it's really a matter of functionality vs. efficiency. Your PCRE will only replace the words you want it too, not fragments of words, but the str_replace is a LOT faster.
