opendir() problem - plonker needs help

Hi,

I've just dropped a big clanger! Maybe you can save my week for me?

I am writing an image library package for a client, and naturally the clients wants to load images from their PC to the web. So, I wrote this natty little image browser page that allows a PC folder to be selected and a display of all the images in the folder are then shown for selection to upload. (Running on my PC).

Then today, it dawned on me that this might not work when the script was called from the web server (rather than my local PC).

IT DOESN'T. (Ok, you're not surprised - but I'm well disappointed)

Can I change my script so that it can read the contents of a LOCAL PC directory when run from the ISP's server?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news..

As far as I know you cannot acces the HD from the clients.. (Because if you could, you could od all sort of things there..)(

If anyone can think of another approach that would allow the user to select a group of pics to load to the web server, I would be delighted to hear. Thanks.
