Trace URL in PHP script

Hi All,
I am a newbie in PHP. Just start to use since last this year.
Would like to ask a question as below:

1. Can we trace or get the url from the user key in on url box?
   Just as a example,
   If we key in on IE 6 browser URL box: www.yahoo.com
   Then, can we use PHP function or any way to get the url echo on the page?

any help would be great....

I think you are looking for this:

echo $_SERVER[HTTP_REFERER];

Or else:

echo $_SERVER[REQUEST_URI];
