Ok.
I've got a table which I'm trying to standardize and reconstitute in a more functional database. (Right now the first three columns are stored in one feilds with 30 similar records (x475 total records so I'm trying to avoid re-doing the entire database by hand.) I've exploded thadata and I seperated the test print with $..
I don't have an autoincrament key, yet. I was hoping to use lname AND fname..
fname $ lname $ position $ location $ date $ status
Sally Ann $ Triplett $ Director $ London $ 1999-07-00 $ Closed
Jodie $ Langel $ Director $ Canada $ 1999-07-00 $
Linda $ Balgord $ Director $ New York $ 1999-08-00 $
Linda $ Balgord $ Actress $ Boston $ 1999-09-00 $ Tour
Renee $ Veneziale $ Actress $ Canada $ 1999-09-00 $
Linda $ Balgord $ Director $ New York $ 1999-10-00 $ Final
I was wondering if there was any way to combine the records like....
Linda $ Balgord $ Director Actress Director $ New York/tBoston/tNew York $ 1999-08-00/t1999-09-0/t1999-10-00 $ Tour/t/tFinal
....so that I can assign it a numerical ID by which to link therm and turn it into two seperate DBs?
I'm a silly newbie, so if there's a better way to do it, I'm all ears.
I've done some tutorial search on this and they're usually about deleting or merging with duplicate numerical keys..
