Help with IDE - PHP setup maybe?

Hello!

More newbie questions! Well, there is something odd going on with my setup. I've only started learning PHP and I'm using DZSoft with PHP 4.3.2 running on my machine.

The guniess/warthog script simply doesn't work on my machine, it never displays the array.

However, if I upload it to my webhost it works perfectly, they are using 4.3.1. I would do it that way by it slows me down a lot.

Is there anything I should watch out for, any suggestions to get it so it actually works?

If I amend all the $HTTP_POST_VARS to $SERVER then it works, but I get all the $SERVER variables listed too.

What should I be using?

I intend to develop on my local machine and then upload to my Webhost.

Is something setup wrong with my PHP ini?

I don't think this will help your problem specifically, but use $POST instead of $HTTP_POST_VARS. The latter, though still usable, is deprecated. $SERVER is an array of variables completely different than the POST variables.

This is starting to cause me all sorts of pain! The $POST array is empty on my local machine, completely. I've been reading about bugs in PHP with empty global variables such as $POST and $_GET.

I'm beginning to lose heart!

Perhaps yuo didn't modify your php.ini file to allow for the globals?
