Sick of counting lines

It's a real drag when you spend four days writting out some PHP then you get a message that says something like:

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in c:\apache\htdocs\dcprogs\trolley.php on line 687

I'm using Notepad for this stuff and the novelty of counting lines is really starting to wear out. Is there any program I can use or anything I can do to quickly pin point these errors without having to literally count through loads of lines of text?

It's killing me!

It has line numbering, and syntax highlighting. Other than that its quite similar to NotePad.

By all means get a decent editor but also consider changing your coding habits. Don't spend 4 days coding, spend maybe 4 minutes then test.
