hi,
the case is php with mysql.
coding for the calculation.
e.g. a) an employee has 18 days leave a year...
b) an employee take leave from 3/6/03 to 6/6/03 ( count the duration and the balance of the leave).....

from date: xx/xx/xx (empty field)
to date : xx/xx/xx (empty field)

duration : <result>
balance : <result>

Looks like ths following:

Get number of remaining days of holiday from database and put into a hidden form field
Get the dates for holiday (split them up to mm dd yyyy in three different boxes for simplicitys sake.. will ensure that mm/dd/yy is put in correctly and not dd/mm/yy)
Work out the days inbetween ((timestamp2-timestamp1)/86400), if it is total number of days, then take that away from figure in database and update with the result.

If it is working days, then work out how many weekends are in the time period and take that off the total number of holiday days.

Not that difficult really..

Easy form submission and simple maths... (BTW 86400 = 60secsx60minsx24Hrs)

im act as an employee and i want apply a leave for some reason..
i log on to the leave website and apply it.
then i must fill in the date ,right!

     from date : <java scripts calender popup> i choose a date
     To date    : <java scripts calender popup> i choose a date

*******after i click the submit buttton********
Duration : < dont border it first>
balance : < important part> its automatic show the result

i have no idea how is the code for the BALANCE ...( e.g.i employee only have 18 days leave)
how to calculate the balance.......

The balance of days would be:

No. of leave days - Duration (worked out as per example) = Balance

This doesn't take into consideration the weekends, so you would have to work these out from the date range.

E.g.

No of leave days = 18
Holiday start = 01/July/2003
Holiday end = 10/July/2003
Number of holiday days = 10
Nuber of weekend days = 2

So:
leave days (18) - (holiday days(10)-weekend days(2)) = 10

Gives you your answer of 10 days remaining (ie balance)

as stated before, not too many peeps are going to write the code for you, give it a whirl and come back when you have problems, then you will likely get some more help, or pick up a php book or visit the manual

What don't you understand? stolzyboy took the time to explain to you the working and some information pertaining to this problem, yet you continue to ask for the code?

Go out, buy a book, find one online, read tutorials, and the online PHP manual is your best weapon. You can do it yourself if you devote some time to it.

People just dont have the time to devote to writing free code for people. If we had time, we would do it. But instead we are too busy writing replies to people who don't understand that concept.
