I have the following code and would like to convert the onClick line to php code.

What I want to do is select one of the URLs from the drop down, click the "go " button and and have a new window open based on the selected URL.

Can anyone help me with this or point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the help. I tried the code and when I review the source code it displays -- action="" -- so it's still not passing the $menu information to the post.

Any other suggestions?

... don't understand...
works perfectly for me...

I forgot the method="get" but it worked anyway...

just copy-paste all the code (which I've just updated) to a new blank page and test it on the server...

OK. I pasted it into a new page and it does indeed open a new window, but the same URL (www.tnevni.com/test4.php). It doesn't use the URL selected (i.e. http://www.tnevni.com) when opening the new window.

See if you get the same thing or do you get the new window with the selected URL? Why the differnce I wonder?

Well, I tried it again and I get the same result:

The new page opens and this is in the address in the box:

That's as far as it gets.

Do you think it could be my web hosting PHP server?

Yes... I'd say it is your hosting.... the configuration...
But I guess you can do some other things with php, can't you?

try just a simple example using the header() function...

I guess you posted this thread because you didn't want to use javascript?...

Yeah. Itried the header function and it's a mess. I can't open a separate window (or can I?), the address doesn't display properly either.

Well if you come up wih any thought s I would cetainly appreciate the. You've been very helpful.

One thing in JavaScript do you happen to know how to modify this statement to open a new window? The following is JS, right?

As far as Java goes, I wanted to stay clear of it because some people have it shut down on there browsers so I thought the php would be better. What are your thoughts on this?

yeah... that's the problem with javascript...
and i don't know much of it either...

have you tried using post instead of get?
just use exactly the same code, but replace it the two times it appears.

No, I tried it and it didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

One thing, can you tell me what version of PHP your web host uses? I know mine is pretty old and I've been trying to get them to upgrade (4.01 I think).

I'll keep you posted on any progress.

that may be the problem!

php has suffered major changes since!

try $HTTP_GET_VARS intead of $GET
and
try $HTTP_POST_VARS intead of $POST
if you're using post

if I weren't a "leaner" I would have found out that the problem was the version at once!!
