iBill PayPal with Mysql and php

I have a website built with mysql and php. It's gotten to the point where I can start charging the members of this site on a monthly basis to access certain areas of the site. I want to use Paypal or ibill or something along those lines. I really havn't looked into this yet so I am not sure how this works. Once the member gives his credit card info and assuming that he is approved...what is the next step? I'm assuming that the billing company I am using to process the credit cards will send some sort of a flag to my database signifying that the member is approved. Let's assume the member signs up for two months, do I have to set up the database in a particular way that will allow the member access for two months only? How does this work?
I may not have explained this too clearly, but does anyone know how this whole thing works? Or is there a tutorial I can read that will explain this?

I assume that paypal or other company is willing to help you on this problem and give you help suport you.

I made something like this and I can tell you that you have to send some prameters on GET becouse any company will send you all the parameters back to you and thats how you'll know what kind of transaction you have made, thats how you'll know if a member have payed fo a 2 mounth access on your site.

ex. www.yourpaycompany.com?...&total=200&type=2.....
