Compare a text in two files

i want to take a word from file1 and compare it with a word on every row in file2.

file1 looks like this:

pasta|food
ford|car
willow|tree
meat|food
cookie|food
oak|tree

file2 looks like this:

pasta|food
willow|tree

now i want to check if car from file1 is in any of the rows in file2..
How would i do that?

use www.php.net/file to create an array from the file1 and the file 2, then use www.php.net/extract to extract :p the values of those 2 arrays, and then just use

if($val1fromarray1 == $val1fromarray2)

I guess this shoud do the trick
