Transferring mySQL tables?

Ok heres the sketch.

I have a Win2K machine with Apache & mySQL installed. There are quite a few tables and data within one the of the databases and I am wanting to transfer this over to a proper web host.

Is it simply a case of passing the relevant files in the mysql/data/%database dir% over to the web host and I will be able to bypass having to reset everything up?

I would use phpmyadmin to export the databases that you need then just setup phpmyadmin on your new host and import what you just exported. This just makes it much simpiler and you have a local copy of your database backed up.

Having posted this, I just thought about using mysqldump to dump the local copy to a .sql file for the web host to handle.
