Hi,

What I want to do is the following.

I have a form on one page, that when submitted I want to submit to another page that contains a form with the same field names as the first form. On this second page I want to be able to auto submit the form so it will be transparent for the user.

Is there a way to do this in PHP?

Are you talking about a form that submits to a PHP script that then redirects back to the original form?

if you are then in your second page, after you are finished doing all the processing that you need to do, just add header("Location: <yourformpage>") to the end of the script.

No they're two seperate forms on two seperate pages.

What is the purpose of the second form?

What do0 you want to do, like what do you want the final result to be?
E-mail you the stuff?
Submit to database?
Show the user what he/she has typed and ask if it is right?
I mean if your trying to do those, why do you want two forms?

The issue is this. My site is PHP based, and the site with the second form is ASP based. It's a login auth form. The second site is using it's own ASP functions that I can't call from the first site.

So I just want to be able to bounce thru the second login form basically and get the users into the site from my first login form. I don't want to have them need to login twice.

you cant pass variables from PHP to ASP.
Why dont you make the page that is php right now asp? Whats the problem?

Hi,

I am pretty sure it is possile. But I am not sure wether you'd need to do this though.

In order to get the info to the first page, you'd have to write ASP code (WHICH I do not know.. ASP) which will extract the variables submitted and place them in the fields in the ASP page. Then you'd have to add a piece of javascript in the header of the ASP page which has a line like "onload form.name.submit". I am not sure wether this is the correct javascript. Do a search for javascript form submit on this forum or goggle, and I am convinced there is a multitude of codes out there.

But.. Eerh.. Isn;t there a way to avoid going through this? You are not administrator on the second site, and canont remove a part of the coding, so the login page is never loaded?

yah its possible if you use ASP on the first login, but NOT IF YOUR USING PHP... and if you didnt code the second login then youd have to do some reasearch about the variables etc... you cant just combine php and asp together

Well the server that the first page is on doesn't support ASP. I don't have access to the second pages server at all, so I can't add any code to that site.

What are you claiming there? That ASP is incapable of reading a posted data? Or read data from the URL string? I somehow find that VERY hard to believe!

lol dude you cant combine php and asp together, even if you did have asp support you still wouldnt be able to do it unless you had the exact variable names used on the real login, so you dont own the second login site, if you dont, then youd have to contact the admin of that site and ask alot of questions

Well I know what the field names are called on the second form. Shouldn't it be enuff to just send those exact field names from the first form, to the second page.. and then somehow autosubmit that form. The rest of the existing ASP code should just function normally on those field/var names, wouldn't you think?

Yes. But in case to submit the form, you have to be able to edit the coding of that form.

You could however figure out WHERE the form submits to, and directly submit all data to that page (Submit the data which would havebeen submitted by ASP, but now from the hP form).l

Sounds a bit tricky to me though.
Hope you are not hacking a site...

lol it sounds kind of weird... do you know any php or asp at all? I mean.. you have to know the fundamentals of php or web programming to know how form submissions work... I mean why dont you just use their submission form from their html and use it on ur site? I dont understand why u need PHP to do this, you dont have to copy it or anything, just submit it to the page that does the processing, which their form html should tell you...

No I'm not hacking any site. I have a legitimate reason for trying to do things this way.

Look up the curl functions in the manual.

What you are trying to do is actually quite common and not all that hard.

There are a couple of tutorials on curl. Goggle for them. You can also do this without curl by rolling your own socket connection code. Search for threads with fsockopen.

It doesn't matter whether or not you're using asp or php on the first server... you want to be able to auto-submit a form on another page that you have access to edit. one thing you could possibly do is to find the page that the second login page submits to and have your site submit to that same script with the same variable names and all.
