Check Table Field Value

I have this question. I have very limited knowledge of php and i recently bumped into the following problem:

I have 6 table fields (amp1 - amp6), on the page i print the results in 2 groups: amp1-amp3 and amp4-amp6.
Each group has its own category image. (2 images).

Sometimes values of one of the groups are all empty.

So i would like the category image not be displayed if the group is totally emtpy (fields amp1-amp3; or amp4-amp6).

How could I check if the field values are not null? If atleast one or two of them exist=display cat. image, if not = no cat. image.

Try something like this:

$query = "select * from table";
$result = mysql_quer($query);

if($result)
  {
  while $row = mysql_fetch_array($result)
     {  

      if(($row[amp1] = "") and ($row[amp2] = ""))
        {
         Nothing
         }
         else
         {
         something
         }
      }
   }

You mean if the one of the two is null only print one image...

You would need to query the database and get the value of each field (say the field names are amp1 and amp2)

Once you have retrieved the values you would say

if(amp1=="")
  no image
else
  image

if(amp2=="")
  no image
else
  image
