How many recipient with mail()

I have made a function sending a mail to all sitemembers with mail using bcc in the header.

My question is how many bcc:s I can have before the performace is affected.

If there is a limit. Should I make a loop and send several mail?

I'd advice, so send these mails in a loop.. sending multiple message.. The BCC field (Black Carbon Copy) field is not so reliable anymore, since several mailservers handle mails containing BCC recipients as SPAM. With other words, there is a chance your BCC recipients will never recieve your mail...
