Difference between redirects

Hi,
I am wondering what the benefits and differences really are between the two main forms of redirects. Such as, on some when you save a form, it will do a header("Location: index.php") redirect. Other times, it will give a delay message to wait and it will automatically redirect you via JavaScript. What is the difference? Is it possible compatability issues? Which is best? Thanks

I guess it depends on why you are redirecting. Any time I am dealing with submitting form data I personally like the header() function more. The reason is because if the users submits the data and then hits the back button in their browser it will take them to the submission form and then if they hit the forward button in their browser it doesn't prompt them to resubmit the form data because of that processing page that sits in the middle. It just saves some extra scripting in most cases.
