[Resolved] best way to use includes?

i can't really find a very good answer for this...but i'm trying to figure out what the best way is to insert a "general" include...by general i mean like an include that has copyright info...or an include that is updated frequently like the most recent news...basically small things...

right now...as i have a separate table for includes...i'm just calling them up according to and ID number...

<? include("include.php?id=7"); ?>

like that...the "include.php" file is really just empty...it only has what i put in it like what i mentioned above...is there a better (more efficient, smarter) way to deal with small things like this? or is just a simple include like this the way to go...

no, thats basically the best way to do what you want, if you needed the file to be there, you could use require("file.php"); and if the file was not there, the script would generate an error and stop, but, with include, if the file is not there, the script would generate an error, and continue.

thanks...i know it's a dumb question, but i was wondering if there was something more to it...simple is best i guess...

But don't forget the difference between URLs and file paths, and how differently PHP treats them.

It may be that you'd be better off with

$id = 7;
include('include.php');
