date and MYSQL

What i need is.
I have fields with a date and certain info for example
2003-04-05 00:01:00,4,month
2003-04-07 00:07:00,3,days

now i do a while on that table pulling
all the dates.
I would like to add a speficic amount of time to these
dates. Like + 4 month or + 3 days and check if that sum is the current date today. if it is then i would do something else with the results who meet the criteria.

Can u give me advice?

DATE_ADD(date,INTERVAL expr type)
DATE_SUB(date,INTERVAL expr type)
ADDDATE(date,INTERVAL expr type)
SUBDATE(date,INTERVAL expr type)
