Date Question

How do i check to make sure the date is entered correctly in the form of dd/mm/yyyy?

i.e... to make sure a user hasnt inputted 1/5/1984

I want to make sure the user has entered 2 digets, a slash, 2 didgets, a slash, then 4 didgets.

Any help would be great,

Try using checkdate();

Or else Regex.. Havent got an example.
