Hi,

I have to store the session values in to db just before it
expires.

I did it with a timer in the client browser. It works greate. But
we can't go ahead with this option as user can close and open the window anytime. once user closes the window my timer
at client side is gone.

Is there any solution for this problem?
how do we catch the event at server side that session is getting expired?

I have posted this Query before, but i did't get any solution.
i hope this time i will.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to provide
as much info as you need.

Just use cookies that don't expire for a while.

Thank you for your quick response!!

Right now my session will not expire for 30 munits. I can make
it go for 5 hours.

My problem is not when it should expire. I want to save data
to database when it expires.

This is probably not the best solution, but you could have a console pop-up onClose that logs the data?

I got the same idea. But unfortunately that doesn't work.

Reason:

I am not supposed to store the session data to Db when
user closes the window as I have to show the session data
when user comes back using the Url in a new window. Means i have to keep the session active even though the brower is closed.

I always use a cookie that expires after about a year, so at the beginning of every page, I run some code to check if the session is still active, if not, I add the data into the session from the cookie.

The following is an inane example of this:

if (!isset($data)) $data=$cookie_data;
