Need help making a decision on how to handle a file...

Hi,

I have an issue I need to resolve in the most efficient manner possible. I've tried a variety of ways and I am hoping someone out there can help a lost soul.

Here's the issue:

I have a book. I want to be able to edit the page online. So in my book directory I have page1.php. In page1.php I have the $page1 variable that contains all of the text for the first page. I created a php-based web site that will enable me to edit the pages individually ($page1 appears in a large textarea). When I submit the form, I want to give $page1, in page1.php, the new value just submitted.

I've looked at a variety of solutions (fopen, fwrite, unlink, chmod, etc...) and I can't find one that'll work. Can someone please throw me a bone on this one. Gracias.

If you are going to assign $page1 a new value, you gotta rewrite all lines of that file! Of course, file system functions should fit this.

Have you ever consider a database like MySQL? You can achieve it rather easily and efficiently. One page for all!
