Hello, everyone.🙂 It's my first time to post a message in echo lounge.I always browse coding section....

By the way,I have been learning PHP about 4-5 months. I think it's a really good programming language which provides sufficient functions for us.However,I am wondering why most of the enterprises use JSP than PHP.I mean, most of the real big enterprises in US or other countries. So,it arouses my attention on JSP.

My question is,

1.if you choose PHP/JSP to learn, which will you choose to be the most important programming skills?

2.And why?

3.Moreover,what do you think of your selected programming skills prosepect?(e.g.Their program maturity)

4.If you consider XML will be flourished in the upcoming years, will you change your mind in the answer of question 1?:o

Thanks for your reply because I got little knowledge about JSP.:p

I bought a JSP book last year and it is still covered nicely on my bookshelf. My PHP book has come to pieces anyway. hahaha... 🙂

Java and JSP (of course) scare me and I believe most of junior programmers (like me) for its complexity. Tomcat? Bean?
I first thought that Java is one of the island in Indonesia. There are javanese there that speak JAVA very very well. hahaha... 😃

Anyway, get to know XML will be what I am going to do. However, if I am not mistaken XML is not an independent programming language that will let you create an application. Am I wrong?!
If I am rite bout dat, you cant really compare PHP-JSP and XML, can you?!

Not really -- JSP and PHP are scripting languages. XML is more of a way of packaging your data.

XML also makes a delicious dessert topping.

I think enterprises use JSP when they need to interface with EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans) for whatever reason.

For just running a dynamic Web site that doesn't need EJB or anything, I find PHP to be much more manageable.

(Incidentally, better Java support is one of the priorities for future development of PHP.)

As I skimmed a few pages of my scary JSP textbook(Borrow from the libraries),what JavaBeans mean are "session" and "cookie".

I do appreciate the concept of OOP in JSP,but they seem like making things more complicated than it should be.e.g.JavaBeans is one of them.

Nevertheless,I think its portability is one of the features which attracts me.Although I really don't know much about XML.....😃 I think it's quite a new concept in most of the people's mind.😉

But you know what,I just don't have the time to switch from ASP->PHP->JSP->?????

Ironically, the market seems like love to employ a Java programmer than PHP.I don't know what they are thinking of.😕
