how to install http_auth on my phpserver running on foxserv

hey,
i'm trying to run http_auth but it doesn't want to work.
I'm running the basic configurations but i have read the php.ini and the httpd.conf from apache. but I didn't find usefull things perhaps because i'm not an expert.
please i need help.

Do you want to use http_auth with php (some header calls) or do you want to do it by modifying the httpd.conf ?

by http_auth you are talking about .htaccess, right, well, here is a pretty good link on how to do it
