[Resolved] Preformating Textareas

I have various parts of a site that need to have their text preformated when they are retrieved from mysql. I don't want to have to teach the people updating and editing the site to have to use html to format their data. Is there anyway I can have php preformat this data when it's entered. IE. Breaks in a paragraph (in a textarea form element), starting new Paragraphs, so on and so forth.

Check out nl2br. It will take the string you specify and change all \n's in the string to <br />.

personally i found that i can never rely on people. i did however find something on the internet (javascript) named ACE, yusasp.com or something. basically it had a cute interface, and you can edit messages like in outlook. here's a place i found it working, try to send a new mail and you'll see what i mean

ps. not advertizing, just sharing what's helped me out.

this isn't free software tho, cost me $60, and i use it every chance i can to get my monies' worth =/

nl2br() will only convert new lines to breaks. If you want the rest of the formatting there (such as spaces, tabs, etc), just put it within pre [preformatted] tags
