Hi,
I still got a query problem, and realy need some help!

I got a table that looks like this:

..id..|..user..|..bid..|..item..|
...1..|....5...|..100..|.....2..|
...2..|....4...|..150..|.....2..|
...3..|....1...|..200..|.....2..|
...4..|....4...|..500..|.....1..|
...5..|....4...|..100..|.....5..|

The problem is that i need to find out if eg. user 4 has the highest bid on any items.

I need a query like this:
SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE user = '4' HAS MAX(bid)
but that's not even a function in mysql... so I need to get around it in some way... I have beed trying for 4 days now... and don't a clue!

I believe that there are a few ways of doing what you want.

One way is to sort, then pick off the top, and compare e.g.

SELECT id FROM tablename ORDER BY bid DESC LIMIT 1

Then use say, mysql_fetch_row() on the result and compare with '4'.
