Required login?

Hey guys and gals,

I'm just wondering how you would make a user go through a login page to view database records. Right now my page doesn't feel very secure to me.

If your user db has userid within it set it so that visitors have the userid of 0.

Then have a code like

if ($userid==0) {
// login code
}

Ok, so will this prevent this scenario?:

Right now the way my page is set up, if somebody types in:

They totally bypass the login and go straight into the database. If it does could you go into a little more detail about userid.

set a session var or store a cookie and then check for that cookie and if it does not exist send them to the login page
