Hi, I need assistance ASAP. I have a client who requested the following:
"I am purchasing the data on all these newspapers [7000]. How difficult to have this info in a database so that we could ask them to tell us which paper they are with when they come to the site in response to an email we will send them?
My thought would be to ask them their zip code, have the dbase pull up the listings in that zip code/city and let them select which paper they are with. Also wondering how hard it would be to use a cookie so that the site would recognize them when they came back so they wouldn't be asked again. Could also use this info to pre-fill out a sign up form, etc."
Anyone, know of a solution? I only know enough about PHP/MySQl to install it onto the server and maybe do alittle tweaking here and there.
If you can create 2 generic forms that I can use as example/template, one an informational form, that when the user fills out the zipcode field a drop down list is populated with the information of newspapers in that specific zipcode; and the other a simple sign up form that uses cookies to pre-fill out the general fields (i.e. name, address, etc.) -- please let me know and also an estimate of how long it would take and how much you would charge. He's going to be using dreamhost.com as his webhost -- dont' know which package yet, probably the $9.95 or $19.95.
I appreciate any and all assistance, this is time critical and the budget is not extensive.
Thanks!
