Blat = Yucky and Sucky

I have a friend who is on MS SQL server. I am trying to send a conformation email with the mail function mail(). Come to find out the server uses a sendmail program called blat.exe, does anyone know how to use the mail function using blat?

Prolly need to set up an SMTP host in php.ini --- IOW, use the IP address or hostname to send mail....

"mailer.example.com", I suppose; or do they name things differently up there? I hear "everything's up to date in K.C.".... 😃

Seriously, though; I run UNIX, so it's not an issue for me. In php.ini, under the heading "Module Settings", there are a couple of defines that are Windows-specific, and I expect you might have to enter a hostname there...Windows implementation of mail() uses socket calls to a defined (external[?] - I assume you definite as such, at least) host....

I will keep messing to figure it out. I am doing a site for a friend and the hosting company is a bunch of idiots, I can't get access to the ini file of course so I have to try and coach them.

Well thanks for your help. Let me know of any suggestions you have to tell the idiot tech people at the hosting company.
