Hi,
I'm moving from ASP/SQL Server to Php/MySQL (yes, my brothers). Is there an equivalent to ADO's shape command? That is to say how to produce and traverse hierarchical recordsets?
I'm just trying to populate 2 pull down menus. One is a car maker, and the other is car model.
I know i can select car makers into an array and then re-select car models into another array but I'd like to keep it to one query.
So far arrays are the only "cursor" or data handling type answers I've been seeing.
In short, must I use nested queries to parse out the unique parent in a parent-child dataset?
I know it may be ignorance on my part but I've been searching all day on this. Any help or a nudge in the right direction is appreciated ( any editorals are welcome too, I have thick skin)
Thanks
