data parsing problem

i have been using nl2br to keep the formating of sections of text entered into db via form, however i want the user to be able to edit the text, in another form, how can i get it to display without showing the <br /> tags at the end of each line.

do i need to parse the data in some way before it is added to form?

You could use [man]str_replace[/man] to replace the "<br />" with an empty string, but why not wait until you're displaying the text to use nl2br() - in other words, after getting the text out of the database, instead of before putting it in? Then you won't have to strip them out for people to edit it (only to put them back in again afterwards)?

didnt think about using nl2br after instead of before, have overcome the problem using strip_tags and stripslashes functions but may change it.
