What do these error messages mean???

I'm trying to do a members login page, but keep getting these errors in my browser when the submit button is pressed.
I can see that it's something to do with the session commands, but am at a loss as to how I correct this.

The errors are:

the login.php file is attached.

think one of your problems may be

that you havent acctually registered a value for the session variable, youve registered session variables

auth
logname

but havent set a value to them

you need to add something like

$SESSION['auth']=$auth;
$SESSION['logname']=$logname;

Ok... those links have the same error as I'm getting and I've ammended the php.ini file so
session.save_path = c:\windows\temp

but.....

When I run
<?php
phpinfo();
?>

the path to php.ini is C:\Windows, whcih is fine,

but the session.save_path is still = /tmp ??

I'm assuming that php is not reading the ini file...
but how to make it so it does is driving me bananas!
