Using $_SESSION[]

Does using $SESSION[] entail anything else besides replacing all of your session_register()'s with $SESSION[]? Or is there more to it than just that?

I use the $_SESSION array exclusively and the only thing I do is make sure that session_start is at the top of each script file involved. But I assume you do that already.
