Get specific post data and merge!! :)

Hi,

I have a dynamic page that builds dropdown menus for a product. This is unlimited and can produces drop down menus like so...

<select name=\"opt1\">
<option value=\"76\">$la_option_name</option>
....... etc

<select name=\"opt2\">
<option value=\"34\">$la_option_name</option>
........ etc

<select name=\"opt3\">
<option value=\"19\">$la_option_name</option>
........ etc

Opt is +1 each time until there are no more options...

This data is submit and parsed accross to the next page to be dealt with.

How can I get these options into one variable on the next page?

Even if there are 60 options+!??!

e.g.

$options_variable = "$opt1,$opt2,$opt3....

ready to be exploded later.

Can php detect posted variables like opt create a loop for each at a time and add them to $options_variable .

Like
$options_variable . = "$opt3,"; etc...

This is a great puzzle I feel and any advice that can be given would be much appreciated. My brain has had a serious beating today.

make the select name an array:

<select name="opt['dynamic_name']>

or

<select name="opt[1]">
...
<select name="opt[2]">
...
etc.

then in your script, just access what you need out of $opt

beware this can cause referencing problems in javascript, but that's another topic...

Hi I have made the select name an array and it works fine. I just need to collect the option names on the next page.

e.g. get php to detect all the $opt[x] values and put them in a variable separeted by commas.

e.g. $opt_var = "$opt1,$opt2,$opt3 etc...

How can that be done so PHP detecths all the $opt variables even if there are 100+ or 3 or 600 etc...

You're talking about multiple select, right? If I remember right, just do the same thing again. I think it would look like

<select name="opt['dynamic_name'][]">

that way all the variables will be in the data structure $opt.

		$opt_short = substr($varName, 0, 3);
		if($opt_short=="opt"){
		$product_options .= "$value,";}
		}

 // remove last comma
 $options_length = strlen($product_options);
 $new_len = $options_length - 1;
 $product_options =  substr($product_options, 0, $new_len);
