I have a mysql table with about 1000 records.
I want users of my website to be able search the site and them to get back the results of the search ordered by relevance of closest match to their search phrase.
I have been reading on the mysql.com website about Full text searches and i believe this will do what i am after.
I am a little put off as at the top of the page on the mysql site it says something along the lines off, it effects the performance of a table if you change it.
So, whats the pros and cons of Full Text Search and Indexing?
If performance is effected, by how much?
Does the table then require more maintenance,optimisation etc as i would prefer a low maintenance setup.
Also how do i go about setting up Full Text searching. I use phpmyadmin so i assume i can do it all through this.
