Authentication Between 2 Sites on Different Hosts

Let's say I have one website I do not administer. People login there and have a link available to them to come to a site I develop. Is there a good way for them to pass me some sort of query string or some other method so that I know they came from that site and that they were logged in? The problem is that site is coded in ColdFusion (win2k) and my site is PHP (win2k).

I've been on google for about an hour and can find nothing that answers this question. And so I make my plea to the phpbuilder community, please help 🙂

well can you not just hardcode the link from the CF site to say soming like

http://www.yourphpsite.com/page.php?extvisitor=true

???

Or is the link to your site available to users who are not logged in as well?

Yea, we thought about that but that would mean that if a user was for some reason unsubscribed, they could still use that link directly if they wanted... or they could tell their friends. I'm looking for something that might be encrypted or even maybe done via wddx... not sure if this is really even possible... but thanks for the feedback.

Just a bump. I still haven't figured out a way to accomplish this. I dont' think there really is a way other than having the first site have an interim page that has an instant meta refresh to http://user:[e-mail]. This still would not be very secure. So, just wondering if anyone has any more feedback on this?

Is it no possible for the link to be:

www.yoursite.com/external.php?ref=somesite%username=john&pass=MD5Hash

You could pass the password as an MD5 #
