Display records with "Delete" and "Edit" buttons next to each tuple

I am making a database where each tuple is displayed on a seperate line, and I need to have a "Delete" and "Edit" button on each line as well.

The problem I'm having is, how do I know which one they chose? Or rather, how do I pass the primary key (composed of 3 different fields) of the selected record based on which button they chose?

I know I can do this by having a seperate form for each line, but that is much less efficient than using one big form.
Is there any way to do this?

Except instead of hand-coding the id, you generate it dynamically. Then, on action.php, you check the action variable (whether they want to edit or delete) and the id of the row in the database they want to apply that action to.

If it helps you to visualize the problem any, here's what a few lines look like:

Last Name---First Name---Year---Major---GPA---SAT---EFCIM---EFCFM

Hope---Bob---2003---Smoking---1.10---120---100---200 delete button edit button

Dickens---Charles---1872---Whales---3.5---500---1280-1350 delete button edit button

the keys are LName, FName and Year

Thanks, that should work although it's not exactly ideal, since I wanted to stick with buttons. It gets the job done though! 🙂

you can still use buttons.

<input type="button" value="Edit" onClick="window.location='action.php?action=edit&id=6';">

<input type="button" value="Delete" onClick="window.location='action.php?action=delete&id=6';">

Or use an image as a link. It doesn't matter what is the link, as long as the url contains those variables.
