Member login/redirect to private personal page

Hello! I'm fairly new to this, but learning more every day. Bear with me.

I am building a member website that requires each individual member to be redirected to his/her own personal page upon login. This page will record personal information and will need to be private and secure from other members. I'm not sure how to go about this. Upon logging in, should a script read user specific information from the active cookie and then redirect accordingly? How do I keep others from retyping the url and accessing other members pages?

I'm not specifically looking for a script, but I'm at a loss how to proceed... Any help is appreciated!

use .htaccess, do a search for it.

Yep, .htaccess is the best way to do it, and then you can write a perl script or something to manage the .htaccess usernames and passwords... or you can do the site in sessions and check sessions for the user only pages so even if someone retypes:
http://www.fakedomain.com/members.php?id=2
It will check if the user logged in and if they didnt, it wont let them in instead it will show a login page, hope this answers your question
