I am running PHP 4.2.2 on a dedicated server ran by serverpath.com..... They told me the reason we run this outdated version is because of the ensima control panel (it is all they support). And then of course they tried to crank me up to ensima pro and get a few more hundred out of me instead of solving my problem which is I need the newest GD library installed in the server but unfortuantly the documents are not very clear on there installation (I am not to great at the linux command line)... Could someone please give me some detailed instructions on how I can solve installing this without upgrading the whole PHP build. Just for kicks I will include the email I got from the serverpath tech:

The reason you are getting php 4.2.2 is because your control panel only support up to that version for the time being. Upgrading your php to the latest release will break your control panel. We and Ensim can not support you if you experience problem with your control panel result of the upgrade to the latest version of php. Having said that. We can Re-Image your server with out a control panel and we can install the latest version of php that RedHat released. There is a $99 Re-Image fee. Please reply to this ticket and accept the fee. We can start the Re-Image of you server today.
