about e-mail validatio

ok..that should be a part of the code that checks if a e-mail adress i valid...I just would like to uderstand what all that gibberish really means...with all the stuff in there...step by step...could someone explain?

Maybe u should read up on that... but their regular expressions looking for a pattern like:
someone"@"domain"."com
something like that, like it looks if that string has the @, the dot, and words before and after each.. if you know what I mean...
