Which book do I need to start learning PHP from the ground up?
I got this Professional PHP Programming by Wrox Press. It's 1999. Perhaps a bit too old...

Any good? Or do I need a more recent book?

ive used that book, its pretty good for getting the basics, the stuff it teaches will never change, now there are a more functions but you can learn those from the manual after you have a basic understanding of php. i recommend that book. also look at my sig...

Try searching the forum, there have been many topics about Book Recommendations, the best book you can get is something that you can understand from the time you open the book.
