Installed, but i cant make it works

I have installed the php last version succesfully, but when I try to run any file in PHP, y get this error.

Security Alert! The PHP CGI cannot be accessed directly.
This PHP CGI binary was compiled with force-cgi-redirect enabled. This means that a page will only be served up if the REDIRECT_STATUS CGI variable is set, e.g. via an Apache Action directive.

This protection wasn´t activated in previous versions, so I don't know how to set to off, o wath to do, i'm newbbie, so please trie to be a little specific,

-The OS is Win98
- Server PWS 4
- PHP 4.2.3

It seems the problem is to get desactivated de CGI_REDIRECT option inside the "php.in", but I can't, i change the valor to set it off, and it's the same behaivour.

I hope dont need to compile it again with this option desactivated, cause i don't have the neccesary tools to do it eith the binaries.

have you made sure that you have copied your php.ini file into the appropriate areas if neccesary?

you may of changed the setting to off, but have you uncommented the line itself (remove the ; ) ?

Try getting a clean version of php.ini, alter it again and give that a go.

install apache?
