Editing pictures

Hi I have been ready up about GD but I don't think it does quite what I want, basically I am looking to be able to set a picture in a frame and then edit this by drawing on it and placing icons.

Once this is possible I want people to be able to see the changes in real time.

Is this possible and how would I go about it.

If someone can set me in the right direction it would be great.

PHP is a scripting language.

Sounds like you need to find/write a Java applet.

Well I'm sorry, but what you are talking about, I've NEVER seen a website have that kind of interface.

It will be a massive Java application that will take a month to write and probably crash people's computers because of the complexity and length of the code.
