[Resolved] BAD REQUEST error when getting filenames with spaces in them

I've a file:

http://soaring.shrum.net/articles/Bungee Hook and Launch Rig.shtml

The file exists and the browser can load it up just fine when the file itself is called directly. When I attempt to get this page via file() to store into a variable with PHP I'm getting:

Warning: file(http://soaring.shrum.net/articles/Bungee Hook and Launch Rig.shtml): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request

Any ideas?

Maybe the bulletin board software mangled it; did you say

file("http://soaring.shrum.net/articles/Bungee+Hook+and+Launch+Rig.shtml");

?

The CMS is self-written by me :rolleyes: and I tried to:

1) leave the URL as is
2) urlencode it

Both processes produce the error. Granted I didn't focus only on the spaces which I know are causing the problem but figured that URLENCODE might handle that (maybe that was just overkill 😕)

Anyways, what is the recommended process for converting <SPACE> to '+'? str_replace()?
