Ok...I am trying to figure out how to do something using PHP, or if it is even possible. What I am trying to do is take a variable/text from another sites, and put it into a variable on my site. For example, taking my username off of this forum, and putting it into a variable on a site of my own. Is this possible? And if it is, how would I go about doing it?

There are many things that PHP can do. I think itd be a bit impossible for that.

If "taking my username off of this forum" means looking through the page and finding the username and extracting it ... it's possible. A ridiculous amount of work would be involved just figuring out which username to take (assuming that that is even a computable task) ... a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.

What I am basically trying to do is take a variable off of another site and stick it into mine. Eg. Site 1 has the variables $number on it. I want to take that variable, and put it on my site, Site 2, and I want it to always match the one on Site 1, so if the administrator changed the value of $number, it would reflect that change on my site as well.

if its variables that are backend... i don't think so... lets say you wanna grab like the 1st article of a page on a different site you could write some kind of code to parse the page (alot of work). If its a site with an RSS feed... might be easier.
