Addition of vars lost the trailing 0?

im trying to get these to work:

		  <? 
$cost = $_SESSION ['service_one_cost'] + $_SESSION ['service_two_cost'];
echo $cost;
		  ?>

it works but it looks like this = $5.5 i need $5.50 '0' is missing!

also whats the best way to save prices in Mysql? as an tiny int? im trying to store 5.00 and 0.50 but the 0.50 seems to store as 0 and the 5.00 stores as 5?, its currently set as tinyint.

use FLOAT, instead.

And [man]number_format[/man] - how is PHP going to know you want 5.50 and not 5.5 if you don't tell it? Or 5.5000000, for that matter?
